Layton Tamberlin BiographyLayton Tamberlin, chairman of Samedaydoctor and co-founder of Sullivan Street Partners, lives in London with his wife and two young children. Born in the Midlands, Mr. Tamberlin resided there during his early years, eventually moving to London to start a successful and ongoing career in finance. He has amassed most of his professional experience in the area of private investment. Layton Tamberlin was born in 1976 in Shrewsbury and grew up alongside an older brother with severe autism.Due to the challenges his brother has faced, Mr. Tamberlin is passionate about the causes of autism and supporting the services available for autistic adults and their families. After leaving school, Layton attended Keble College from 1994 to 1998. While there, he studied Mathematics and Philosophy and graduated with a master’s degree. Professional Experience Merrill Lynch UK hired Layton Tamberlin immediately after he graduated from Keble College And while working there, he worked on several major mergers, acquisitions and IPO’s. Highlights among those operations include the initial public offerings of the Generics Group, iTouch, and the PHS group, as well as the acquisitions of Newsquest and Rockware Group. He left the firm after four years with Merrill Lynch UK in 2002. Layton Tamberlin’s desire for a new direction led him to join a start-up private equity firm TDR Capital. Backed by the Tudor Group, TDR Capital was founded by Stephen Robertson and Manjit Dale. The firm immediately began investing in opportunities over Western Europe. Tamberlin was personally involved in the acquisitions of Pizza Express, Resolution, Pearl, ASK, Algeco, and Williams Scotsman. He worked with TDR Capital until 2009, when he left following a motoring conviction. Mr. Tamberlin is currently the chairman of Samedaydoctor, a business that runs medical clinics where patients can obtain immediate medical attention from a general practitioner. The company was founded in 2003 and by 2007 had expanded across the United Kingdom. Patients seeking attention for minor injuries, basic ailments, and sexually transmitted infections can find what they need at Samedaydoctor clinics. Recently, according to the Manchester Evening News, Mr. Tamberlin led the group to acquire the Manchester branch of the parent company and will now be expanding the hours and services of the Manchester clinic. In 2010, Layton Tamberlin and Richard Sanders founded Sullivan Street Partners, a private investment firm. Richard Sanders has extensive experience of working with midcap private equity businesses and has actively improved operations at over 50 companies. He has worked previously at the John Lewis Partnership, Bain and Burlington Consultants (now Deloitte Transaction Services). Sullivan Street Partners searches for and invests in complex business opportunities in the United Kingdom and Invests across a broad range of sectors, such as Business Services, Healthcare, Leisure and Financial Services.
